Foundry Service offers Insulating Fire Bricks (IFB) for use in applications from 2,000°F (1,093°C) to 3,200°F (1,760°C) and Dense (Hard) refractory bricks (low, medium, high, and super duty) for use up to 3200°F. Each type is formulated to meet specific thermal and physical requirements. Specially-formulated mortars (both wet and dry) and patching plasters are available for use with all grades of dense and insulating fire bricks.
Calcium silicate boards are white, non-asbestos, high temperature structural insulating boards that exhibit good thermal shock resistance and stability, consistently low thermal conductivity, high structural strength at elevated temperatures, incombustibility, electrical insulating properties when dry, excellent machinability, insolubility in water, and non-corroding properties. Foundry Service stocks a variety of calcium silicate boards in a broad range of densities for both insulating and structural applications including oven and furnace insulation, molten metal contact parts and assemblies, structural steel and pipe insulation, electrical cable tray and grease duct insulation, and a variety of specialty machined shapes and components. The high density grades Ultratemp-SD and Marinite-P are used extensively for high-temperature platen press insulation and machine base plates. Foundry Service offers a full line of technical ceramic products for a variety of industries and applications with operating temperatures up to 3400°F . Materials include Fused Silica and Fused Silica Foam (30 pcf to 130 pcf), Alumina, Mullite, Cordierite, Steatite, Silicon Carbide, Zirconia, and Aluminum Silicate (Lava). We have in-house slip casting and vibration casting operations and mold making capabilities. We offer cast and machined ceramic plates, tubes, rings, pins, kiln furniture, oven decks, kiln shelves, and parts molded or extruded according to customer supplied drawings. Foundry Service also offers grinding and machining services to support the many products we carry.
Foundry Service offers a full line of products utilizing variables in aggregate, chemistry, aggregate grain sizing, and high purity binder systems to make high quality castables which meet specific property requirements of industrial furnace operators. These include Dense Castables, Insulating Castables, High Alumina Castables, Low Cement Castables, Gunning Castables, Rodding Castables, Gel Bonded Free Flowing Castables, Patching Castables and Plasters, and Precast Prefired Refractory Shapes. Typical installation methods include vibration casting, self-flowing, ramming, gunning, and patching / troweling.
Foundry Service’s line of high temperature fiber reinforced cement boards and fiber cement panels feature high strength structural insulating properties and excellent machinability. Cement boards are capable of withstanding high temperatures, loads, and electrical conditions with less shrinkage and degradation as compared to previous non-asbestos formulas. They are hydraulically pressed into monolithic boards from Portland cement and selected non-asbestos, non-ceramic/refractory fibers. The board is then air or oven cured for exceptional machinability, and sanded to a standard 24 grit finish. The materials are non-combustible and can withstand operating temperatures of up to 1000ºF. They have low thermal conductivity, so work well for many structural insulating applications. They are non-conductive and will not rot or mold when exposed to prolonged dampness. The materials can be cut and machined with standard carbide shop tools.
Foundry Service stocks a wide range of high temperature cements, coatings, and mortars that can be used for bonding, sealing, and coating the various engineering materials that we carry. They can be used on a wide variety of materials and substrates for applications up to 1650°C (3000°F).
Foundry Service offers Ceramic Fiber board, blanket, paper, felt, and custom vacuum formed shapes made from the highest purity raw materials available. Ceramic Fiber is an aluminosilicate based refractory fiber that is white and odorless. It resists temperatures as high as 3200º F and extremely light weight with very low thermal conductivity. It provides excellent hot face insulation at high temperatures with excellent thermal shock resistance, even when exposed to direct flame. It also resists corrosive chemicals such as commonly used acids and alkalis. Ceramic fiber products are excellent substitutes for asbestos products in many insulation and sealing applications.
